In 1 Nephi 17:13 it says, “And I will also be your light in the wilderness; and I will prepare the way before you, if it so be that ye shall keep my commandments; wherefore, inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall be led towards the promised land; and ye shall know that it is by me that ye are led.”

Elder Bednar said that we have “been given a spiritual compass that can direct and instruct us during our mortal journey.” He said it is the Holy Ghost that helps guide and direct us if we are faithful and keeping God’s commandments just like a compass can help you find your way to the store.
