What do the first principles of the gospel mean? Let’s start with faith. In article of faith number 1 we learned about faith. (Click here to go to Article of Faith #1.)
Now that’s talk about repentance. When we do something wrong or break a commandment, we need to repent. Let’s watch a video where charlie and I talk about commandments or rules.
Go to video.
When we do something wrong we can pray to Heavenly father and tell him we are sorry. Then we try to do better next time. Repentance helps us to be clean again.
For example, let’s pretend that this yarn represents sin or the wrong choices or msitakes we make. Each time we are unkind to someone, lie to our parents or make a wrong choice it is like this yarn gets wrapped around us. If we do not repent the yarn gets stronger and tighter, but if we stop and repent, Jesus Christ’s atonement is like scissors. We use scissors to cut things. Thr atonement cuts the sin out and let’s us be free again! Whenever we sin we can repent and be made free.
Repentance means that we are sorry for what we did. Have you ever said sorry? That is part of repentance being sorry for what we did and telling God and whoever we hurt that we are sorry.
The third principle is baptism. Let’s watch our sister tells us about baptism and then Charlie will share too.
Baptism 3.55 – 4.35 Savannah and Charlie
Charlie: When I was baptized I promised or made a covenant with God to do 3 things. To always remember him, to take his name upon me and to keep his commandments. And God promised that he would give me the holy ghost to help me.
Savannah was in a music Video about baptism. The song is called I will remember him by Sara Lyn Baril.
The last principle is the Holy Ghost. We receive the gift of the holy ghost after we are baptized. The holy ghost helps us know what is true.
Now that we have learned what the first principles of the gospel are we need to practice living them. You can have faith in Christ, repent, remember your baptism promises or get prepared to be baptized someday like me and choose the right so you can have the holy ghost help you. I know God loves me and he loves you.
