Day 16: Jesus Showed Compassion Light the World

Song: O Holy Night

Scripture: John 11:4-5, 11, 15

When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

Advent Gift Idea: Mini donuts or donut holes.

#1 Teach: What does it mean to be compassionate towards others? We can be compassionate as Jesus showed towards others by loving and understanding what others are going through or experiencing. We always want to be doers meaning we “do” want to show compassion and kindness to others and we “do not” want to be unkind to others otherwise we might leave “holes” in their heart.

#2 Application: Eat and enjoy!

Service Idea: Pick up a box of donuts or other treats and drop it off at a local ER, police department or fire station. Show compassion for those that are on the frontline in your community. Print out our treat tags and attach to the box of treats.
